Most general basic supplies are available in Kingscote, Penneshaw and Parndana. The main town of Kingscote has the most services available with a range of businesses providing various goods, products and services. Smaller service businesses exist with essentials and basic items. You will not find large variety shops or mall type shopping.
Kingscote
Two hotels provide in-house meals and alcohol service as well as takeaway bottle shops. Various restaurants and cafes exist from fine dining, to pub, to takeaway meals. Hardware stores to Fuel Service Stations, and the largest of the food general convenience supermarket is in Kingscote.
Full Banking facilities (ANZ and Bank SA with Commonwealth agency at the Post Office), Government Offices, Post Office, Council Offices, Police Station and the General Hospital, Doctors Surgery and Chemist are in Kingscote. Clothing stores, galleries and other shops are also in the main town.

Penneshaw
Penneshaw has one hotel providing in-house meals and alcohol and bottle shop service. Various restaurants and cafes provide a range of food options with a general food convenience supermarket available.
Agency Banking, Post Office Agency services and Fuel is available. The Kangaroo Island Visitors Information Centre is located in the town and the ferry service operates from Penneshaw.
American River
American River has a general store for basic supplies, restaurant, oyster and fish shop and licensed sports bar (2 nights a week)
Brownlow
Brownlow only has one general takeaway food store.
Vivonne Bay
Vivonne Bay has a general store for basic supplies, takeaway food and fuel.
Rustic Blue Gallery and Café, 8 km west of Vivonne Bay has a café menu and also has food condiments, local cheeses, gourmet crackers, jams and olives available for purchase.

Parndana
Parndana has a general store for basic general food supplies, takeaway food, fuel and the Community Hotel has in-house meals, alcohol service and takeaway bottle shop.

Fuel is available from various locations on Kangaroo Island however the best locations are the main townships of Kingscote and Penneshaw. Various other fuel locations are Parndana, Vivonne Bay General Store and the Wilderness Retreat at the West End of KI. Prices vary dependent on location.
