A wide range of accommodation is available on and across Kangaroo Island. Dependent on what your requirement is, it varies from basic camping to medium style accommodation to high end luxury accommodation.

Various camping grounds exist and are available at various locations around the island. There is a range of Private and National Park sites that may require bookings during peak season. Various Council campgrounds are also available on a first come first serve basis. Some are fairly remote and others have easy access via bitumen roads.

Some camping locations are Penneshaw (full facilities), Kingscote (full facilities), Browns Beach (BBQ, toilets & water NO showers), American River (full facilities), Emu Bay(BBQ, toilets & water NO showers), Stokes Bay (BBQ, toilets & water NO showers), West End of the Island near and in the National Park(full facilities). Rustic Blue (limited sites but full facilities) All the above are accessible by bitumen road. Other sites exist around the island but are not serviced by bitumen roads.

The Kangaroo Island Visitors Guide has a wide range of available accommodation advertised.  We recommend if not camping hire a house and use it as your base.  Emu Bay / Kingscote areas are about 1hr to National Park and 1hr to Eastern parts of the Island.
